Post demonetization, frequent changes in financial rules and regulations imposed by the Banks and the Govt. has caused much worries to the common people of the country. Although praised as “the most courageous and intelligent” step by the Modi Govt., demonetization has hit the lower and middle class people the most, leaving aside the richest ones. Subsequent to demonetization, several taxes have been imposed on cash transactions by the banks, including the recent one by HDFC, ICCCI and axis banks. Similarly, SBI has also decided to levy fine for customers without a minimum balance. A nation, where the governmental websites are not even updated regularly even after having all the resources, low income daily wage earners like tea garden labourers are forced to have ATMs to promote cashless economy! On the other hand, gradually diminishing rights of freedom of expression is another dimension, that has become quite prominent in India of late, if all price hikes, extra taxes are not enough. Religion,Corporate governed policies, Mindless Bhakticult have gradually grappling and crippling the very essence of democracy in the nation, which is a “sorry state of affairs” for the promise of “Acche Din”!
